A brief history of Greg Durrell.

Once upon a time in a land that stretched from sea to shining sea, a boy dreamed the same dream every night. He dreamed of a world of clean lines, flat surfaces and simple forms. He dreamed of a society whose machines mimicked the efficiency of nature. He dreamed of a land where beauty lay in creativity, and achievement was measured by innovation. He dreamed of a world where everybody had brand new biodegradable socks every morning and V8 juice came out of the taps instead of water. He dreamed of a place where peace was inevitable because love was in every image, every glance and every action. And every morning when he woke up, he set to work making his dream come true.

Work completed at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games was under the design direction of Leo Obstbaum and VP of Brand & Creative Services Alison Gardiner. A Special thanks to Cory Ransom for helping photograph the work.

Hello, I’m ZSO. (On paper you may also know me as Sara Blake.) I’m an Interactive Art Director, Designer, and Illustrator living and loving in New York City.

ZSO (pronounced |zō|) is a collection of letters that I find aesthetically and phonetically beautiful. Together they make sound much like “so,” the adverb which means “to such a great extent.” I am a person of extremes, for better or worse (most often the latter), so the ring of it was fitting, and the moniker has since stuck for good.

I graduated from New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study with a concentration in Graphic Art and Postmodern Studies—I’ve been working in design and art direction ever since.

These days you can find me at Euro RSCG where I focus on digital design. But by night I also double as an illustrator for clients such as Yen Magazine, The KDU, Hurley, SGCNY, and Koko & Me. I’ll also be having my very first solo gallery show at Friends of Leon Gallery in Sydney, Australia, September 2010.

New works from Mogollón

Mogollon is a multidisciplinary art direction studio founded in 2004. Mogollon was conceived by Francisco Lopez and Monica Brand with the objective of joining talents to produce alluring imagery across virtually every platform.

The studio’s expertise spans in the fields of fashion, music, editorial, magazines, design, films and videos among others.

Our services include: art direction, branding, graphic design, typography, illustration, motion graphics, set design and web presence.

Mogollon / (mo-go-yon) / Spanish slang word for Plenty or Abundance. Commonly used to signify “a lot,” e.g.,“I like you mogollon.”

BIO

In 2004, we were invited to direct a film documenting the construction of an architectural installation to be exhibited at the courtyard of PS1/MoMA. We knew each other from Boston (our Art Schools were next to each other), but it wasn’t until we moved to New York that we became closer friends and started working collaboratively.

The documentary became our first work experience together. We spent two months shooting and editing what ended up being a 10-minute video piece later exhibited at PS1/MoMA. During the process of making the video, we discovered that we had many things in common: our love for film, music, design, fashion, and art. We also shared the need to create crafted and provocative work that wasn’t constrained to any specific media, which could be both artistic and commercial. And so, Mogollon was born in Brooklyn, NY in 2005, as an art direction studio where artistic expression often meets with the commercial palette of the global community at large.

In the following years, Mogollon has developed into a boutique-style art direction studio that produces powerful and iconic work across virtually every platform. We continue to art direct and consult with brands and individuals around the globe. The work of Mogollon has been featured in prestigious books and magazines such as “Tactile” and “Neo Geo” by Die Gestalten, Grafik Magazine, Communication Arts and Etapes Magazine, just to name a few.

New works from VanilaBcn

Carlos Jimenez and Roger Gual were born in May 1983. Both met studying graphic design on Elisava Design School eighteen years later and, after working in diferent studies during two years, they decided to work together founding Vanila Barcelona to develop their own projects.
They love old school graphics, western typographies and all kind of “folklore”. Both like the food from Sevilla and the breaking waves of Laguna Beach. They missed the time when “Saved by the Bell” was on tv.
Freehand will never die.

Lowpop is the tremendous ear catchy moniker of Lille based french graphic designer & wannabe art director Baptiste Ringot. It could be translated by “HighRock”, but it was smarter to get along with Lowpop. Since always highly attracted by rough & loud music and art, these two obsessions became bounded the day I made my first poster for one my rock band (Wich was absolutely crappy BTW). Right after that, i followed a three days class in film photography with a genius photographer, and that was launched. I wanted to be a graphic artist, whatever the media, or even the disappointments, difficulties.
Inspired by the hidden dark side of each human being on earth, strange things, disturbing visuals, torn heart artists, poets, my style is slowly constructing itself as time roll his unavoidable wheel. But one thing for sure, it’s gonna be darker & darker, as i’m getting more & more confident… the keyword for my life’s brief is melancholy and i take all my strenght from that. I’ve grown each time I took a train in the face.
Highly sensitive, i never work with clients or money makers, always with human beings, collaborating to get the best of their idea, or purposing them mine. I love to have creative control of what i do, it’s a need. Hyperactive boy, i’m about to drop side projects, to express my creativity and explore new fields. Morning Decay, wich is an experiment about creativity, how it reacts with environment, how it evolves with time and training. It’s also a good way to measure how creativity enhances itself over time. And The plastic Lense ghost door, a side project as a film photographer, wich is a good way to have fun under the red lights, working with wrecked old cameras.
Maybe someday i’ll stop all of this to start video arts, or become a cooker, explore Tibet, who knows. But for now, i’m a graphic designer, my name is lowpop, and i’m here to work with you.

Happycentro is a creative studio from Verona dedicated to art direction & videomaking.

The studio began in 1998 in Verona, the romantic city of Romeo and Juliet. In recent years we have worked with both large and small clients, for local agencies and major international companies. Our approach to design is always the same: designing a logo, an advertising page, a wall or directing a commercial offers the same opportunity to deal with a problem. With time we have become quite good at solving problems. Mixing complexity, order and fatigue is our formula for beauty. Always, in addition to the commissioned work, we spend plenty of energy in research and testing. Visual art, typography, graphic design, illustration, animation, film direction and music. We like contamination between creative disciplines and diversity in general. We don’t like to do the same thing twice and prefer to go beyond what we are already able to do. It is tiring but satisfied.
